This is a WW 2, 3rd Contingent Operational Group patch. An ULTRA RARE Office of Strategic Services (O.S.S.) contingent. This patch and arc are on the ASMIC Oct. - Dec. 2000, 100 most wanted list. It is theater hand made (probably Italy) and embroidered on black wool felt material with a maroon cloth backing. The circle measures 2 5/8 inches in diameter and the arc is 4 inches wide. The patch was used. It was removed from an old WW 2 patch blanket (see picture). It does not glow with a UV blacklight. In Sept.1943 a mixed force of Yugoslavian partisans, British Commandos and a contingent of OSS OG's held the Dalmation Island of Vis and from t this force mounted raids against German targets on the other Dalmation Islands and the Yugoslavian coast. Eventually these OG"s became Company "C" of the 2671st Special Reconnaissance Battalion, another OSS unit that I have the arc also listed on eBay.
