Recovered from the desert, from a small concealed supply dump that had been revealed by the shifting sands, in South Egypt in 1952 by a veteran friend of mine, stated to be a Commando Raiding Force item 1940-1944. The unusual pack is stamped Ref COSD-2044A. This may represent Combined Operations Supply Depot or something else. (the letters COSD I think are also the same as those stamped on the very rare British Gravity Knife) The contents are for a Dingy and apart from the carry pack, contain a pouch stating Emergency Signal Kit, 5 loose folding Bailing cups, 2 wood bungs, a tin with Repairs kit, a wire framed cloth item, a pair of wood paddles and a pair of handles, a pair of Bailing cups in a pouch, an unknown flag, white cross on black background and a foot-hand pump. This is certainly an unusual item and would be great for reenactment, Desert etc, also for display and exhibition.
