Genuine, authentic, original hand signed letter of Elite Hauptsturmfuhrer der Reserve Karl-Heinz Ertel. Ertel achieved WW2 in the Elite troops: Germania, Nordest, Wiking the Battle of Finland, Nederland. He received his Knights Cross of the Iron Cross for bravery as a commander of the SS Frei Wiliger Panzer Grenadier Brigade. The one page, full 4to size, letter is on his personal imprinted stationery, Langenberg, June 23, 1964, to a Mr. Thomas Smith in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, in which he gives his opinion of German officers in WW2 including General Hollidt and Eberbach, and indicating how he received his Knights Cross award. Ertel has signed his full name in blue fountain pen ink. Not common. Except for minor mailing folds, in excellent condition. I have been a member of the Manuscript Society since 1956 and am selling part of my collection. See my other Ebay offers.
