WW 2 Fairbairn-Sykes Commando Knife. This World War Two extremely rare smooth brass grip variant with 7 sets of double rings is in 100% original condition. This is the knife illustrated on page 53 of "The Earliest Commando Knives" by William Windrum. T is also one example noted on Page 68 of "Allied Military Fighting Knives" by Robert Buerlein. Sheffield grind apparent on an earlier production blade. The brass grip is also indicative of early/mid-war production since the use of brass was eventually discouraged in favour of less precious materials. This knife is in un-issued condition. T are no nicks or dings or sharpening and the point is 100% intact. T is some staining on the guard (see pics) but the knife has a nice original patina throughout. The early custom scabbard is a practical design and much more heavy duty then the typical FS scabbard. All stitching is intact and the components of the knife and scabbard are tight and in good order. This knife was purchased at the Great Western in 1985 so this is the first time it has been offered in the open collector's market since that time. Measurements: Overal length: just over 12 inches or 306mm. Blade: 7 inches or 178mm. Grip: 4 7/8 inches or 125mm. Guard: 1/8 inch or 4mm thickness and 2 1/2 inches or 58mm in length. Note free shipping in North America. U.S. buyers note that I will arrange to ship this item via U.S. priority mail using the U.S Post Office. For the UK and Europe please allow $35.00. PAYPAL preferred. If you are an advanced collector this will be a fine variant to further broaden the collection. This knife comes from my personal collection.
