Genuine, authentic, original hand signed photograph print of Generalmajor Otto Ernst Remer.

Remer was a German Wehrmacht officer who played a decisive role in stopping the July 20 1944 Plot to Kill Adolf Hitler.

Remer commanded a motorized infantry company in the Battle of Poland, as well as serving in the Balkans and in Operation Barbarossa. He joined Regiment Grossdeutschland and became a battalion commander, successfully working with the Waffen SS in the Battle of Kharkov, where he was awarded the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross for extraordinary bravery and military leadership. He also received the Oakleaves to the Knights Cross for his further military leadership at Krivoi Rog.

He was made commander of Infantry Regiment Grossdeutschland in Berlin in 1944, and it was on July 20, that he was ordered to arrest Joseph Goebbels, who got the Fuerher on the telephone and ordered him to arrest the July 20 plotters, ending the hopes of Count von Stauffenberg and other military leaders who had sought to assassinate Hitler.

Remer later commanded the regiment in East Prussia where he was made a Major General and in the Battle of the Bulge.

The postcard size sepia photographic print shows Remer in his Major General's uniform, and he has signed below his image in black ballpoint ink. The reverse side has his personal hand stamped name and address. In excellent condition. Because of Remer's importance in stopping the July 20 Plot, his autograph is highly collectable.
