Genuine, authentic, original hand signed photograph print by Generalmajor Otto Ernst Remer. Remer played a decisive role in stopping the July 20 1944 Stauffenberg Plot against the Leader. In March 1944, after being wounded Major Remer was chosen to command the Infantry Regiment Grossdeutschland, a unit that performed public and security duties in Berlin. During this time, Remer and his men successfully stopped the July 20 Plot to seize control of the government. Upon being ordered by General Paul von Hase to arrest Minister of Propaganda Joseph Goebbels, Remer went to Goebbels office to do so, pistol in hand. Goebbels, however, used his oratory skills to dissuade Remer from arresting him, insisting instead that the Leader was still alive. Within the minute, the Leader was on the phone, and Goebbels handed the receiver to Remer. He was asked if he recognized the voice, then gave Remer orders to crush the plot with his trooops, which he did. That same night Remer was promoted two ranks to Oberst (Colonel.) Remer later in the War fought to defend East Prussia from the Communists, and also the Battle of the Ardennes (Bulge). He finally was given a command of a division in March 1945 in Silesia in fighting the Russians, and was captured by the Allies.
