Genuine, authentic, original hand signed photograph portrait of Wehrmacht Heer Generalmajor Otto Ernst Remer. Remer was a highly decorated German Army infantry field commander during WW2. Remer is best known for stopping the July 20, 1944 Assassination Plot to kill the Fuhrer! On July 20, 1944, Remer was commander of the famous Grossdeutschland Infantry Regiment headquartered in Berlin, and was order by Generalleutnant Paul von Hase to arrest Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels. When Remer confronted Goebbels for the arrest, Goebbels insisted on having Remer talk directed to the Fuhrer...who convinced Remer to stop the arrest, and instead arrest von Hase and end the coup...which Remer did, and was immediately promoted from Major to Colonel!! Remer later when on to combat fame commanding troops in the defense of East Prussia, the Battle of the Bulge (Ardennes Offensive) and the Defense of the Reich on the Eastern Front. Because of his personal bravery, he was awarded the German Cross in Gold. And b ecause of his extreme personal bravery and successful military leadership in combat, he was awarded the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross with Oakleaves, one of only 890 soldiers to receive this high honor during the War.
