you have a WWII German KAR 98 Dress Bayonet and Scabbard in excellent condition. The bayonet was used for parade dress occasions. It represents the long version that was worn by enlisted soldiers. Further the blade is stamped Alcoso with the maker's logo and Solingen. The blade is gleaming and retains most all of the original mirrored finish. This finish is tough to photograph without getting the camera, me, as well as other reflections on the blade. The bayonet has checkerboard pattern, plastic grips. T is a bird's head pommel. The button retracts. T is oxidation to the chrome pommel. The felt, denoting branch of service, is not present. The cross guard, spine of the grip and pommel has a brilliant chrome finish. The cross guard has oxidation. The leather rest is present. The blade has some light dings, some oxidation, and some scratches to its surface. The point is sharp. The bayonet was not used as a tool or to open rations. (Of course it was a parade dress item and was not meant for field use.) The bayonet is of high quality. The bayonet is almost 16 inches in length and about 9.75 inches in blade length (but not exact due to the metric measurements). The scabbard is in excellent condition and retains almost all of its black paint. T are only some normal, aging spots of rust. T are no door dings present. The frog mount is nicely in place. T is no dress bayonet frog with this offering or available. This was standard parade gear issued to a field combat soldier. T are no political or offensive markings. The parade dress bayonet and scabbard represent a GI souvenir. Our soldiers were the most prolific souvenir hunters. They liberally exercised the time honored right of, to the victors go the spoils. However, if you have any questions regarding your country's laws pertaining to WWII German items, please exercise responsible judgment (and refrain from bidding if necessary). This German Soldier's WWII Parade Dress KAR 98 German Army Bayonet with matching Scabbard marked Alcoso and Solingen would make a fantastic addition, upgrade and/or completion to a WWII German Army or GI Bring Back Collection. The parade dress bayonet and scabbard would be terrific for re-enactors, and it would look great in your display, museums, and for educational and theatrical presentations. I try to post items that are easy to visualize, and am listing a number of caps, uniform items, field gear, insignia, ribbons, etc., this week. Please take a moment to check these out. Thank You.
