This is a faithful reproduction of the German M40 Greatcoat, it is the standard greatcoat issued to Heer & Elite units during the war. This greatcoat had a field-grey wool collar, the slip-on shoulder boards are in infanterie's white piping. The Greatcoat was double breasted in style and had two side-slash pockets with flaps. It was made of high quality feldblau wool and was partially lned with cotton twil. Provisions were made in the lining, and in the Greatcoat itself, to allow cartridge-belt support hooks of the service tunic to pass through. As with all the Greatcoats, the M40 Great coat was closed with pibbled, metal buttons and the collar fastened with a metal hook and eye. The Greatcoat was worn with the closed collar unless the wearer displayed a neck decoration.
