This item is a WW2 German mess tin. Made of aluminium with steel fittings. The main part has 3 pressed indents at the front, which I think are level indicators. It is stamped on one side bracket: JSD 39, and on the the main handle where it is riveted to the lid: VDNS 40. There is some light staining inside, and a few small dents and scratching. The mess tin is not misshapen and the lid is a good fit. In overall good condition for age and use. THANKS FOR LOOKING AND GOOD LUCK
