you have a WWII German KAR 98 Dress Bayonet and Scabbard in near mint condition and complete. The blade is etched WKC with a knight's profile. The bayonet was used for parade dress occasions. It appears to be the shorter variation. The shorter dress bayonets were worn by officers and non-commissioned officers. The blade retains the leather rest and the grip of the bayonet retains the red felt wool that denotes the branch of service. Red was for both Staff Officers and Artillery. The blade is gleaming and retains 99.99 percent of the original mirrored finish. This finish is tough to photograph without getting the camera, me, as well as other reflections on the blade. The pictures do not do it justice as the blade's finish is brilliant and mirrored. The bayonet has checkerboard pattern, plastic grips. T is a bird's head pommel. The button retracts. The felt is original and firmly in place. The cross guard, spine of the grip and pommel has a brilliant chrome finish. T are only trace oxidation and no cracks or chips to the grip. The blade is etched WKC along with the profile of a Knight. The etching is clear and bold. The leather rest is in place. T is no oxidation to the blade. T are no chips or sharpening to the blade.
