This is an original German WW2 kerosene windproof storm lantern lamp BAT Mod. 159. The manufacturer, Franz Stubgen, began making lamps and other metal items in 1843. The Flying mouse FLEDERERMAUS trade name was registered in 1892. The BAT name was registered in 1936. In 1942 the company was purchased by the German concern HASAG. So, this dates the lantern to the period 1936 - 1942. After the end of the war the factory was pillaged by the Russians.Those lanterns were used both by the army in the field camps and by the civillians when the elctricity was out. It is well marked, has the Bat emblem and also Made in Germany /after WW1 all the German production had to be marked Made in Germany and this continued even during the WW2/. The lantern is perserved in very good condition, the tank does not leak, the glass is not broken or cracked. The mechanism works.
