My father brought this bayonet back from the Phillipines at the end of WW2. The metal scabbard and the hilt and blade guard are all lightly rusted. The blade still has over 90% of its original blueing and a few lightly rusted areas. T are no nicks in the blade. It appears that the blade was never sharpened after the original factory sharpening of the tip portion. The wood on the hilt has a few nicks. The attachment release mechansim at the butt of the hilt still works smoothly and with good spring tension. The blade shows the 4 cannonball mark of the maker. The only other markings apparent are a serial number (29710?) on the butt end of the hilt. The blade fits smoothly into the scabbard.
Bayonet and scabbard together weigh about 1.5 pounds. With packaging, total weight should be less than 3 pounds.
