This is a very nice M3 trench knife. It is hilt marked: U.S.M3, K.I.. It has a very dark parkerizing. Blade looks unsharpened. The hilt has the flaming bomb and has been peened.. The leather handle is very nice and someone has put a X on one of the washers as you can see in the pic.. The knife is tight, with just the slightest movement of the hilt guard. This is not a repo. I bought this knife about 10 to 12 years ago from a guy at a military show. He had most makers and they were all similar to this knife. He was the busiest guy at the show. After WW2 these knives were turned in and stored. During Viet Nam they were taken out of storage, reparkerized, put with a new scabbard, and reissued. I don't think this one was ever reissued. After V.N. they were again stored and then in the 90's they were sold as surplus. The scabbard looks unissued, it is mint. It is marked USM8A1, PWH. These were made in the 60's and 70's in Pennsylvania. The knife is much nicer than the picture shows. I have a lousy camera. Thanks to everyone that emailed me with info on this knife. Buyer to pay $8.00 for shipping by priority mail. Ins. would be extra. Thanks for looking.
