+WW2 NAVY CORPSMAN MEDIC M1 HELMET - ORIGINAL + Here's an outstanding example of a WW2 M1 Navy Corpsman Medic Helmet. This helmet was purchased along with the orange Damage Control Navy helmet that I currently have listed. The helmet features a red cross painted on the front against a completely white background. This is a front seamed swivel bail helmet manufactured by McCord. The color of the weaved chin straps look like OD no.3 and the steel clasp follows textbook descriptions of a McCord. The heat number located inside by the front brim looks like 354A and stamped between that and the front visor is the letter "C". The helmet is obviously used and has a rough texture covering the entire outer surface. There are some scrapes and wear as would be expected from a used item such as this. There is some rust located around the bottom right swivel and there is some scattered smaller rust spots around the brim of the shell - but definitely nothing that takes away from the helmet. the helmet also seems to have some yellow paint peeking through in some spots under the white and under the brim. The steel clasp is flat, not raised and was originally painted black. It displays a good amount of rust and some corrosion on the J shaped release hook. The liner has a small half inch crack located in the middle of the right side towards the brim, it is not very noticeable. Otherwise the liner is complete. All the webbing is present and intact and the leather sweatband is still pliable but has two tears towards the front of the liner. The leather is a little moldy which can be easily cleaned off - that is exactly how I purchased it a little over two years ago and it has not gotten any worse during that time period. The manufacturer's mark inside the liner is an "S" within an oval with the number 15 below it. The "S" is indicative of the Seaman Paper Company. The A washers are brass painted black with some oxidation. On the rear webbing attached to the leather sweatband located in the liner near the buckle for adjustment there is a stamping of what looks to me to be the Eisendrath Co. with a series of numbers located right above. The leather chinstrap pictured on the liner is a reproduction that I added to complete the look for my display. This helmet would definitely make a great addition to any collection and are becoming harder and harder to come by - this was my only Navy Corpsmans helmet. One of the best features is the fact that the helmet had been painted white - definitely don't see that too often. It's killing me but the time has come to thin out my collection and make room for a few new helmets, so this and a few others will be going up for sale. I truly hate selling parts of my collection, but it's either that or buy a bigger place to live - and that ain't happening! Within the near future I will also be selling off some of my medal collection for those of you interested - a mixture of WW1 & WW2. I will also be selling a few more helmets, also WW1 and WW2, and a variety of armbands - some of which cannot be diplayed on ebay. Shipping will be USPS Priority mail - bidders from the lower 48 states are preferred and can expect delivery in 2-3 business days. Any overpayment equaling a dollar or more on shipping costs will be reimbursed. Paypal is the preferred method of payment and shipping will only be to confirmed paypal addresses - NO P.O. BOXES . Any bidders with a feedback score of 5 or less please contact me as well prior to placing a bid as I have had non-payers in this category of feedback ratings. If you do not contact me I will cancel your bid, so please drop me a line to let me know your serious. If more pictures are needed just let me know. If you're not satisfied, returns on this item are accepted as there is a 7 day inspection period from the day you receive it. The buyer is responsible for the return shipping costs and must return the helmet in the same condition it was received. However, I am fai...
