This is a set of five Special Event cancellation postcards featuring the aviation art of John R. Doughty, Jr. Two of the postcards feature the First Day of Cancellation for the 100th Anniversary of Flight stamp, cancelled on May 22, 2003 at the Wright Brothers Branch post office in Dayton, Ohio. The other three postcards feature the First Day of Issue cancellation for the purple Heart stamp, cancelled on May 30, 2003 at the Mount Vernon, Virginia post office. This special cancellation features the English Parlament building, and was done as part of a letterwriting campaign to US Armed Forces deployed overseas. This is set number 7/12. This is from the artist's personal collection and has been sold out. This is the last one available! The P-51 Mustangs featured are from the famous 352nd Fighter Group, known as the Bluenosed Bastards of Bodney, England. The B-17s are from the famous 91st Bomb Group, which included the Memphis Belle, based in Bassingbourn, England. Each postcard is signed by a World War P-51 pilot, or a B-17 aircrew or nose artist. The postcards are signed by the following: P-51 "Cripes A'Mighty" is signed by P-51 Ace Donald Bryan, who is the highest living 352nd Fighter Group Ace with 13.33 victories. P-51 Petie 3rd is signed by 352nd Fighter Group P-51 pilot Richard Creamer. P-51 Moonbeam McSwine is signed by Charles
