Up for auction is this fine ORIGINAL WW2 M1 steel shellwith FIXED BALE BARS, original Para chin cup, camo net and Westinghouse liner with factory fitted A pattern side straps . OD Korean period repainted finish , dented top, and fitted with tan webbing chinstraps with press studs at ends to fit to the liner. Original Westinghouse WW2 liner with TAN webbing cradle, leather sweatband with markings, web nape strap[ markings now unclear] and brownleather chinstrap.Sweatband is marked W11-009-QM-17002- A.A.L. G. Co. Each side of liner fitted with press studs to accept web chinstraps of the steel outer helmet and with OD, inverted A pattern side straps with buckles for leather chin cup-all complete. There has been a action repair to one section of the sweatband with a cloth insertion, and one area of the A frame has a tear. NOTE; The A straps and studs are original, factory fitted and show no signs of being a hand fitted conversion. Wear to surface of studs in keeping with age of the liner. Many WW2 M1 liners were converted to Airborne helmets in the Korean War era and I think this is an example of such an official conversion. However, it comes fitted with WW2 original BROWN LEATHER CHINCUP. Exterior fitted with WW2 camouflage net. Named to Spain RA1.Overall in very good, used condition with minor wear & repairs to the interior webbing. read more
