WW2 Pin Up 30th/319th Troop Carrier Sq Nose Artist 21 Two original World War II period pinup drawings by William A. Horton (signed). This original drawing can be compared with a photocopy of an actual nose art study by Horton and the final nose art painted on an aircraft (both images shown in black & white). Photocopies of these latter images will be included with the original drawing.Pin/tack holes. Stapled to white paper backing. Acquired with a group of items related to William A. Horton of 30th Troop Carrier Squadron, 89th Troop Carrier Group, at Bergstrom Army Air Force Base, Austin, Texas (Dec 1942-mid 1944) and earlier at Sedalia AAF Base, Missouri. While with the 30th, Horton painted the squadron's insignia on leather patches, jackets, and aircraft. He also painted tactical markings and serial numbers on aircraft. Horton was then assigned to 1st Air Commando Group in Burma (CBI Theater) as a Staff Sergeant and "crew chief" (aerial engineer), as well as squadron painter. At a jungle airstrip in Burma, Horton painted 26 pinup-style beauties on 319th Troop Carrier Squadron aircraft. He also put tactical markings on the aircraft.
