WW2 U.S.Army issue, ammunition bag, general purpose complete with matching carrying strap. This ammunition bag was designed to carry the metal ammunition box that contained a 250 round belt of 30.06 ammunition for the various models of the Browning machine gun. Designed to hold that box but this bag was intended for most ammunition carrying situations like loose belts, magazines or grenades, etc. There are four D rings around the back edges and the beginnings of 2 straps with D rings at the top to give a variety of attachment/carrying options as well. This bag is marked inside the flap; MAHAFFREY BROS.TENT & AWNING CO. / 1945., these bag does show some wear from general wear, has some rust to the end of the strap that closes the bag, as well as some corrosion to a rivet that holds the bottom strap to the bag, has some rust stains as well as some other stains and general wear.
