SCROLL DOWN FOR MORE INFORMATION AND PHOTOS A very nice 100% original WW2 British Bartholemew MI9 Silk Escape Map for North Africa,....Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Sudan, and Mauritnania on one side, and Spain with the border with the South of France on the other. Overall very nice condition.This map is probably identifiable as printed around 1941, as it does not show the German patrolled "Northern Forbidden Zone" on the French - Spanish border, found on subsequent Silk Escape Maps.The map is about 47cm by 58cm.Designated on the map the code series K3/H2. The ver odd faint mark on the edges, but otherwise very nice condition. WW2 British Silk "Barthomelew's" Escape Maps The WW2 British "Barthomelew" Silk Escape Maps were the creation of "Clayton Hutton", an eccentric MI 9 British Army Officer who was the genius behind so many WW11 Eand E and Survival Aids, that are still in use today.He came up with the idea, after he pursuaded the British Museum, to collect from various second hand bookshops in Bloomsbury, in the region of fifty true escape stories from WW1.He then had them delivered to the sixth form at Rugby school and asked them to read the books, and to summarise the key kit elements in a successful Eand E and Survival.The one item that constantly stood out from the rest was an escape map.Clayton Hutton then went to Bartholomew'
