Thisis a pair of nice, vintage, Sterling Silver, pinback, 1930's to WW2, US ARMY CAPTAIN"S rank insignia pins. These WWII pinbacks have "STERLING" on the back, but no hallmarks. These are 30's - World War Two era pins, vintage pin-back pins to go with any US Army Captain officer's uniform. These would be worn with the branch of service pins and the "US" devices. (Like in my other sale, the WW2 era "U.S." badges.) These would be worn by a Captain in ANY branch of the US Army / USAAF, from the Tank Destroyers to the Field Artillery to the Army Air Corps, or Infantry, or Engineers, or Medical Corps, or Airborne, or Armored, or Cavalry, Signal Corps, Military Police, etc.) These vintage 1930s-WWII era SS pin-backs are nice and solid, with folding pinbacks. They are not hallmarked with the maker, but you know they were made way before the alpha-numeric codes of the 1950's! (They don't say "1-E" or "9M" like my unissued 1950-1955 era paratrooper wings in the other auction). The STERLING SILVER is because of the rationing of metals for the war effort. These show some age and wear, but still look good. The USMC also had captains who wore the same pins. These are marked STERLING on the back! Silver is like 10 bucks an ounce now, so these are collectible AND a precious metal worth holding on to! These are used, and show light wear and patina read more
