You are bidding on an Original Vintage 1943 Dated First Edition of the United States Marine Corps Book "Boot: A Marine in the Making" by Corporal Gilbert P. Bailey, U.S.M.C.R. Published by Bostick & Thornley of Columbia, South Carolina. This Unit History book provides an overview of boot camp training for Marines at Parris Island, and was published during the war. It runs 169 pages and is full of full page black and white photographs. The cover is a photograph and it does not have a dust jacket. The condition is good with edge wear and wear to the cover, and some soiling to the end pages. These men would have later been involved in the Marine Invasions of Islands such as Iwo Jima as recently featured in the movie "Flag of our Fathers".
