First, a note to eBay: This is a non-firing, not made to fire, never has fired, incapable of firing, never will fire, impossible to fire, don't even think about taking this to war, dummy, Dummy Training Rifle with a blaze orange plug inserted in its non-barrel. FOR US DOMESTIC SALE ONLY T were 500,000 of these wood and metal Dummy Training Rifles made circa 1943 by the wind mill manufacturer Parris-Dunn Company of Clarinda, Iowa, for which they were awarded the AN "E" award for war production efficiency. This one is a fine original example, a full sized replica of the famous US '03 Springfield Rifle, 43-1/4 inches long @ 5-1/4 Lbs. The wood is complete and intact, but does show nicks and scars from useage and storage, never been refinished. The metal pieces have lost most of their original blueing, and have since been painted black at some point in it's life. The leather sling with brass hardware is period correct, and looks to have been in place for a long time. All features are present; the bolt operates and cocks a trigger operated clicker to simulate snap fireing, as is the stacking swivel, The adjustable ladder sight works fine. Front lug will mount any bayonet suitable for a 1903 Springfield, but is especially nice with the companion plastic USN Mark 1 Training Bayonet....A nice display piece w a "real" weapon is inappropriate. read more
