This auction is for a very vintage and very nicely preserved WWII era German made Compass. The compass, marked as "Marscht Kompass", is made out of Bakelite and is very nice condition, other than needing a mild cleaning. The front clasp still keeps the case closed, opening the clasp allows the compass body to open up and access the compass dial. T is a metal guard that fits over the dial face, which serves to protect it as well as allowing the top setting to be seen without having the face exposed. The face is in super condition with the degrees of the compass marked off with ticks...although t are 64 ticks instead of the typical 360. The 4 points of the compass, in this compass it is marked N,S,O,W, are highlighted with Luminous dots which are powered by Radium...which I tested with a geiger counter to verify it was radium based and not re-painted with more recent luminous paints. The underside of the dial shield is polished stainless (I'm assuming since it is very shiny and non-magnetic) with a slit cut in it to allow for view sighting the compass. The screws that hold everything together are still all present, although 2 of them (out of 8) are silver, the remainders are darker in color.
