Up for auction is, what we believe to be, a German Butcher Bayonet from WWI. The blade is marked ALEX COPPEL, SOLINGEN. The spline of the blade is marked with what appears to be as follows: a crown shape, W, 15 (or L5), and a crown on topof what appears to be an upside down 10. The crown on top of the upside down 10 symbol is also marked on the underside of the guard. It is a handsome looking bayonet and very sturdy. Overall length is approx. 19.5" with the blade measuring approx. 14.25" long. The blade is sharp with a nice point. It does show some surface rust/spots. The handle is made from wood and steel -- no chips or cracks, and shows some staining. It coms with a scabbard and frog. The scabbard has some rust and a dent in the middle. It is still very sturdy and works great! The leather frog is black. It does show some wear along with a tear on the hole of the strap that goes around the bayonet handle. Stitching is tight and appears to have a steel rivet, and the beltloop is great. ~ IMPORTANT INFORMATION ~ DOMESTIC BUYERS: We accept Paypal, Money Orders, Cashier Checks and good Personal Checks (we will delay shipping until personal checks clear... up to 10 days.)
