RARE WWI ANTIQUE CONTINENTAL 800 SILVER SNUFF BOX 1915

A very unusual continentalsilver snuff box. It is hallmarked with the 800 standard mark only, I cannotfind a maker’s mark. It is almost certainly French or Belgian. It was made c1915 and may have a connection to World War One as its crested lid reads ‘ANNEES DE GUERRE 1914-1915’ which translates from French to English as War Years 1914-1915. It has been beautifully made being an unusual shape with fine quality embossed work to its lid, a ring to its back, and internal gilding. It is in superb condition being free from dings splits holes and repairs – just a couple of tiny faint marks as would be expected. The inside is vibrantly gilded and almost certainly unused. The hinge is strong and the lid closes tightly with a click. It is a decent sized example measuring 2 inches (5.1cms) wide by 1.25 inches (3.1cms) front to back and weighs 25 grams. Items must be returned within 14 days for bidders to qualify for a refund. Postage costs will obviously be renegotiated for multiple purchases. I will post to any country if you are unsure about the postage costs or anything in general simply contact me through ‘ask seller a question’ at the top of the page. Please note if an item arrives damaged (it has not happened yet) please retain all the packaging including the original brown paper as the Royal Mail can refuse to pay out if this is missing.
