If you think you've seen everything, you almost certainly haven't seen this! Exceedingly rare 6x45 model made by Carl Schutz & Co. (Cassel, Germany); Seeger describes this on p. 116 (2nd ed.) as "... a very scarce model" and even more remarkably, " The author has no knowledge of another 6x45 of this type ." Somewhat clunky design is a bit reminiscent of the later Elcan 7x50, other features include early prismatic construction (porro?), individually focusing eyepieces, burnished eye lenses w/ Bakelite eyecups, leather-covered housing, large knurled hinge knob. Top right prism cover markings include "Optiker Schumann, Dusseldorf & Nuess", left-hand prism cover reads "Armee-Model 1914, No.3322, Carl Schutz & Co., Optische Werk A-G, Cassell, DRP." This instrument has been nicely reconditioned at some point and includes clean optics (although perhaps slightly out of collimation), bright markings, and remarkably good form overall. Frankly, its narrow field of view is nothing special, but the rarity and historical significance of this unusual design can hardly be overstated. For the highly advanced collector, this one is worth extending yourself for. Offered as always with absolutely NO RESERVE, so may the heartiest bidder win.
