Good original example of unusual WWI-era Noctar by Carl Zeiss-Jena (see Seeger, p. 286), manufactured from about 1910-1922 and notable as the first 7x50 model ever produced by Zeiss, features Abbe-prism design, individually focusing eyepieces w/ burnished eye lenses, cylindrical prism housings, pebbled leather-covered housing, original black leather case. Top prism cover markings include the traditional Carl Zeiss-Jena imprint on the left-hand side and the and NOCTAR 7x50 designation on the right-hand side. Serial number 1079476 indicates very early production. The fitted leather case is in very nice condition with only the usual signs of wear. A heavy brown leather shoulder strap is almost certainly not original, but the rest appears as made. This glass has been optically cleaned and delivers a remarkbly bright field of view. Cosmetics show some signs of wear to paint, but not excessively so. For the advanced Zeiss collector, this is a stylish and rarely-seen model in a very well-preserved state. As always, it is offered WITHOUT RESERVE, so bid with abandon.
