World War I era Distinguished Service Medal series 1924 document issued by the Army Adjutant General's Office to Colonel Clement A. Trott USA. It is estimated that about 2200 DSMs were issued to American and foreign military forces for their service in WWI. This document is framed in it's orginal period frame. Please see photos.Clement Trott received this award for his service as Chief of Staff of the 5th Division serving in France. Trott was an 1899 USMA West Point Graduate. He later retired from the army as a Major General. He also received the French Legion of Honor-Officer and the Croix de Guerre with Palm. His citation for the DSM is as follows: For exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services. As chief of staff of the 5th Division through his intimate knowledge of staff duties and the requirements of troops of the line, he organized a staff which insured efficient co-operation in combat. His ability was shown in sound tactical directions to his division, which insured success in four offensive operations. Payment by money order or certified bank check only. No Pay Pal.
