Up for auction is a bayonet that I purchased on eBay about two weeks ago for a friend. Unfortunately, he discovered that it did not fit his old rifle because it is a variant that is not compatible with the bayonet lug size found on his rifle. is the description of the bayonet from the original sellers listing: This bayonet, a WWI Era Belgium Model 1916 Cruciform Bayonet w/Scabbard, was designed for the older Mauser Model1889 rifles and carbines as well as for the later Mauser Model1916 rifles. This bayonet had no quillion, but did have a unique Cruciform-section blade. This is better know as a quadrangle blade. This bayonet is in Excellent Condition. It retains about 95% of the original bluing on the blade. The wooden grips on the handle are both in excellent condition. T are no markings on this bayonet. The scabbard is in Excellent condition. No dent nor dings. No rust. The bluing is worn around the frog and tip areas. Approximately 80% of bluing remaining. Overall a Excellent representative example of a WWI period Belgium Bayonet w/Original Scabbard. Actually, t are markings on the bayonet and sheath. The sheath has a number: 67289. The pommel of the bayonet has two letter 'H's' inside a circle and a 'L' inside a square. The crossguard has the number 08 or 80 depending which way you read it. This is a very unusual looking bayonet read more
