Hello Bidders ! For those of you in the know, the photos tell it all ! For all others, you are bidding on an ULTRA RARE German Imperial Naval Model 1911 U Boat Cutlass ! No need to tell you just HOW RARE these are as they rarely ever come up at all, particularly in this condition. This piece is absolutely STUNNING in every way possible ! They just don't get much better than this ! there is a bit of darkening to the blade with no pitting to speak of and overall, the blade remains in 98-99 % of it's original condition ! There is evidence of some light period sharpening but this is to be expected. The guard has a bit of brownish toning with NO Rust or Pitting I can find ! The backstrap is also in fine finish with no evidence of rust or pitting either, All fittings and screws are also in incredible shape as well. The one piece wooden grip is as about as phenomenal as they come with no cracks or dings or dents with an incredible Patina ! The ORIGINAL FIRST PATTERN Scabbard is equally nice with both the metal Throat and Chape in incredible condition with just a bit of brownish toning in spots and the original Staple are completely intact and solidly in place ! No Rust is apparent. The leather body has a small and slight depression on one side but fits tightly into the fittings at both ends. There are NO broken or loose stitches whatsoever ! Everything is nice and tight The original leather spacer is lost to time but I am including a decent one that I cut myself from thick shoe leather. It was a first try and is not perfect. I will include to large leather blank I purchased and the winning buyer can cut their own. The thickness of the leather makes for a nice clean fit. The Cutlass was made by Simson & Co. in Suhl and is appropriately marked and identifiable as Naval issue ! The Cutlass is not Unit Marked but the Scabbard throat is. It is marked quite clearly M.A. 85. ! As I've said, these things do not come much better so DON'T lose out on this RARE chance to acquire one of these. You won't regret it ! Shipping in the Continental U.S. will run approximately 20.00 to 25.00 and will be sent in a large box via USPS Priority Mail. For Overseas Customers, I cannot give you an exact figure but for Western Europe, expect approximately 55.00 to 70.00 USD because of the size and weight of the parcel. Any difference in the actual cost of mailing will be REFUNDED to the Buyer if it is less than indicated ! All SALE ARE FINAL !!!
