This listing is for a Type "C" accurate"TYCOS" aircraft altimeter from WWI. It no doubt was intended to be used in a Curtiss Jenny, or could have been meant for a WWI bomber like the Handley-Page 0-400 in my pictures. This is the earliest TYPE"C" I have yet to see, with a low serial# of"1867". No doubt this instrument was made for U.S. Aircraft use, but could have been used for many of Allied aircraft use as well, as it has ZENITH style mount pattern, and a non-radium dial. It definitely dates from pre May 1918, because it states "Aviation Section U. S. Would look great in my mahogany display stand located elsewhere in my ebay store, and can function as a"backdoor" barometer,( elevation goes UP in low pressure, down in high pressure).Picture of Curtiss"Jenny" and cockpit are the last two pictures,(before the NO CHINESE JUNK LOG). It is painted in original WWI black paint. Fantastic instrument, perfect for your WWI airplane, homebuilt,or 1930's era aircraft. Not certified for aircraft use,but is certainly accurate enough.4 1/2" o.a. diameter,3 1/2" dial, graduated to 25k feet. My yellow sticker can be easily
