WWI USMC Machete w/ WWII scabbard marked Collins We acquired this and several other WWI and WWII USMC items from an estate in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. WWI US Marine Corp issued Collins machete with WWII scabbard, both the blade and the scabbard marked, RARE WWI horn handle example, in as found condition, listed with NO RESERVE! Collins machetes are highly collectable, with the WWI horn handled examples being very scarce. Don't miss out! This is a MUST HAVE for any WWI, WWII, USMC, or Collins collector. Please look at each photo. The Collins mark can just barely be seen in photo #7. On the reverse of the brown leather scabbard the mark reads: U.S. BOYT 42 CONDITION: As found. This machete was well used for over 4 years throughout the Pacific theatre vs. the Imperial Japanese. As seen in thye photos, the stiching has come loose throughout the scabbard. The leather is still supple. The blade is slightly pitted in places, and needs a good cleaning. It has been well used, and is still very sharp. As stated above, the machete has a RARE horn handle, which if I am correct was only issued during WWI! MEASUREMENTS : 30" (76.20 cm) overall. The blade is 28 5/8" (7.59 cm) , the cutting edge is 23 1/2" (59.69 cm) (More of a sword than a machete!) Listed with NO RESERVE!! We have chosen to list this example with NO RESERVE , as read more
