This is a WWI local lapel pin type medal from Genesee County, New York. It is a good quality bronze piece by the Whitehead and Hoag Co. It is pinback and 7/8" diameter. With crossed cannon, rifle and anchor at the center, the legend is "WORLD WAR SOLDIERS & SAILORS FIELD DAY 1919 GENESEE COUNTY N.Y." This is uncataloged by Planck! Genessee County is in western New York, between Buffalo and Rochester.
I am about 95% through listing some 200 different New York State WWI local Victory and Service Medals and groups. I have already listed those that I obtained from the famous Till collection in 1981 and I am now listing pieces I have acquired over the last 34 years. Illustrated at 200%. XF condition. Only one of these I have seen. NOTE: I am very good about getting my orders out promptly, sometimes same day and almost always within 24 hours. However, lately the U.S. postal "service" has been very spotty. In the last several months, I have had first class insured items take over a month to California and two weeks in New York State. Most are delivered in a timely fashion, but a few are not. Prices have proven to be quite strong for the NYS WWI medals that I have sold thus far. While a few have closed at $30 - $35, many have reached $100 - $200 and some have gone for $300+. One realized $500+. Buyer pays $3.00 for insured postage. I will combine postage on multiple orders. PAY PAL, check or money order, please. Thanks. George B. Harris, P.O. Box 1136, Alfred, NY 14802.
