WWI Winchester Model 1917 Bayonet & Scabbard WW1 M1917 History This is a consignment auction for a doctor client who purchased all of his military collectibles in the late 1980s. We are helping him liquidate his entire collection. Many of these WWI and WWII items are used and bear signs of wear and possible blood stains. We are not experts and welcome any comments to correctly identify these items if we have something not identified perfectly. Auction Inventory and Specifications WWI US Army Winchester Trench Gun Bayonet Model 1917 with Scabbard - This measures 22" long. The blade measures an inch at the thickest point. The blade also has a circled W and 1917 inscribed on one side and the other side has an ordinance bomb, US, an X, and another symbol that is hard to identify. The bayonet is in excellent condition. The blade has not been cleaned or polished and has a dark tint to it. T are also a couple of small, and probably cleanable, white spots. The handle has fared well, t are a couple of small chips in the wood, but t aren't any deep cracks or splitting. This was meant to be mounted on top of a US .30 Caliber Rifle.This bayonet comes with a scabbard as well. The scabbard measures 18" long and is definitely worn. The paint on the metal, near the hinges and at the bottom, has been scratched off in some places. The leather is read more
