Unusually large, German patriotic ceramic plate from WWI / WW1. Bowl has a beautiful rendering of an Iron Cross in the center, surrounded by a wreath of oak leaf boughs that are bound together by bow representing the national colors of Imperial Germany (red, white and black) and the Austro-Hungarian Empire (gold and black). Above the Iron Cross, in gold leaf, are the words "Aus Grosser Zeit" TRANSLATION: "From a momentous time." Below the Iron Cross, in gold leaf, are the words "Weltkrieg 1914-16" - "World War 1914-16." Oak leaf sprigs surround the outer rim of the plate - each sprig is bound with ribbon in the German colors. The national colors of Germany also ring the inner portion of the plate.
