Item Description Genuine WWI and WWII LEE-ENFIELD 1907 BAYONET SWORD Manufactured in England to fit the Short Magazine Lee-Enfield No. 1 series Infantry Rifles used during WWI and WWII. Overall Length is 23", Single sided fullered blade measures 17" and is straight single edged and grooved on both sides. The ricasso portion of the b lade is stamped with a crown "G.R. 1907" "6" "18" and "SANDERSON" The other side of the blade is stamped with a crown and "7S E" "19" an arrow and an "X" Wood grips Cross guard is steel with upper guard being the Nuzzle Ring Solid steel "bird's head" pommel or hilt with oil hole. The bayonet comes with a scabbard or sheath, which has steel on both ends and leather in the middle and is stamped on the steel "W.J.H.". The blade is straight and true, the steel looks good, no nicks etc on blade, very few spots, but no pitting or rust and it has only it's original sharpening. The sheath is in excellent condition and the bayonet slides freely in and out of the sheath. The spring latch to attach the bayonet to the gun is firm but moves smoothly. The wood on the handle is in good condition, no cracking or splitting. The pommel has it original bluing that is aging. Overall, this is a very nice piece of history and I think read more
