WWI - WWII Military Compass & Case, Barker & Son-Liquid FilledMonogrammed - Lt. G.C.Donnell Feb.11,1916 Pat. Original NR Owned and Carried by Lieutenant G. C. Donnell this FieldCompass of the lensatic style is in excellent Antique condition.Manufactured by Barker & Son, F., and Barker, E. W. in 1916 or tafter, has a fitted leather belt case. Both the compass and case are marked with the lieutenant's name and battalion (D-106 M.G.Bn.). Description: Compass - 2 inch Diameter, Brass construction, Hinged Sighting lenses, Brass ring, Indexing ring all in complete and original. T is an air bubble under lens. Case - U shaped construction, Brass button, Closure strap, Flap cover & Belt loop: Original and EXC. Patents (embossed on bottom): Abstract of GB103019 103,019. Barker & Son, F., and Barker, E. W. Feb. 11, 1916. Marching compasses.-A magnetic compass is provided with a backsight comprising a peep sight-hole d, slit. or nick, and a small lens e for viewing the dial, the hole &c. and the lens being as near each other as practicable. The backsight is preferably hinged to a bar is secured to the compass box. The dial preferably has an upturned rim g, and the cover b carries the usual foresight glass with hair-line.
