Up for bids is a completely ORIGINAL WWII A-2 flight jacket with artwork and an overseas made patch. This jacket comes with documentation as well. This jacket belonged to Sgt. James McKee of the 670th Bomb Squadron of the 9th Airforce. He was an armor gunner on A-20's in England and France. He flew 55 missions (as the bomb on the back of the jacket indicates) and t are copies of his enlistment record, honorable discharge, and Army separation record. He won 10 air medals and 2 Bronze Stars during his time in the Airforce.
The Jacket: The Jacket is in great condition for its age. It is a bit crispy (esp. in the left arm as seen in the photo) and probably shouldn't be worn daily. This jacket is great for display purposes and is a great piece of history. Everything on this jacket is original. The maker tag and size tag are still present. The lining is in great condition. The waste-band and cuffs are t but have some moth damage (see photos). The zipper is present and in great working condition. It is an original Talon zipper, never having been replaced. The Patch: The patch is an overseas-made stenciled 9th airforce patch. The Artwork: The artwork on the back of the jacket is very nicely done. It is nice thick paint. Portrayed in the work is an A-20 Havac Bomber dropping a bomb that is exploding with the number 55 emerging from the bomb. This indicates the number of missions flown. Above the Bomber is the phrase "Mace's Aces" with four Aces separating the two words. The Paperwork: T are copies of: the Army Separation record the Honorable Discharge the Enlistment Record T are also two photos and a 9th Airforce "Time Over Targets" booklet printed in 1944. Winning Bidder pays for shipping as well as the cost of insurance for the sale value of the item(s) won. Please view my other auctions as I am selling many other WWII military items. Good Luck and Happy Bidding!
