Up for bid is a very salty and well worn original WWII American A-2 flight jacket and crusher cap. The jacket is a size 40, and was manufactured by Monarch Mfg. Co. The jacket is very well worn and in pretty rough condition. It has a 346th bomb squadron patch on the left chest of a snake slithering up a bomb. The left sleeve has the outline of a patch being removed at some point. The jacket does not have a leather name strip, and does not appear to have ever had one. The cuffs are a total mess, and are almost totally gone, and the lower jacket band is pretty rough as well. Both of the sleeves of the jacket are torn and tattered and have been period reinforced by the soldier by adding pieces of leather. The repair is not pretty to look at, and is a bit crude. The leather is fairly pliable although it is very dirty and could use a conditioning. It is not cracking or falling apart. T is a well worn are on the right shoulder and the back of the neck has some crazing and quite a bit of wear. T are two small holes in the left rear shoulder/back area that have some staining around them. And one of the holes has some spiderweb crazing around it and is stained. I may be reaching , but it sure looks like the jacket was hit by flak in this area, and the stains could possibly be blood, who knows? The liner is a mess, and the manufacturers tag read more
