You are bidding on a super vintage and hard-to-find WWII USAAF Type H-1 emergency oxygen cylinder better known as the "bailout bottle." This Type H-1 assembly is complete with oxygen cylinder, canvas cloth bag and the rubber hose with wooden mouth piece. Not only is this Type H-1 complete, its in super excellent condition! This outstanding H-1 assembly was part of a private military display and is second-to-none if you want a complete Type H-1 assembly for your collection. For the serious collector, refer to pages 68 & 69 in C.G. Sweeting's "Combat Flying Equipment." If you don't have this book...now is the time to get one! The dark green oxygen cylinder is in great condition for being over 60 years old. "AVIATOR'S BREATHING OXYGEN" is stenciled in white. The top of the cylinder reads: H1 AC 3 44 11 1235 0...The regulator's pressure dial reads "THE OHIO CHEMICAL & MFG CO. CLEVELAND, USE NO OIL." We believe this unit was manufactured in March 1944. A rubber tube is connected at the top of the valve and is in excellent condition! The rubber is still soft and pliable with no cracks or hard spots. A black wooden mouthpiece is crimped on the end of the rubber hose. A mustard coloured canvas cloth bag with two OD cloth ties is also in great condition with very little wear.
