WWII ARMY AIR CORPS 12th AIR FORCE PHOTOS & LOGBOOK KIANumerous photos many with captions, pilots logbook, service record book and a condolence card from General Marshall for airman John Mark of Newark, N.J.He enlisted 3/14/42 and logged his first flight 6/1/42 in May 1943 he joined the 3rd Photographic Reconnaissance Group part of the 12th Air Force based in Constantine, Algeria. The 3rd PRG was active in the North Africa Campaign and later in Sicily and Italy. Numerous photos of the Constantine and Tunis area and damaged and destroyed German aircraft and airfields. Many buddy and camp life photos also. Most of the photos in the album have come loose having been held in place by some kind of photo tape on the corners but are in excellent square condition. Many have captions printed on them. The 3rd received a letter of commendation from General Patton for their service in the conquest Sicily. The service record book is incomplete and only has basic early information. The Pilots Flight Log ends November 21, 1943 when he was killed during a mission. The final entry is by his commanding officer noting he had flown 39 missions with a total of 193 hours of combat time.Also included is his 1940 High School Yearbook from Westfield High in Westfield, New Jersey.
