Here you have a 1944 dated, regulation issue, World War II AAF or GI Officer's Class A Chocolate Gabardine Tunic. The Tunic comes with an Officer's Regulation Label and Quartermaster Tag. It is wonderfully preserved and is in outstanding condition. It is 71 years old and marked as a size 38 Regular.The tunic is fabulously preserved and striking in person. You can tell it represents a high end tailoring job. There are 2 pleated breast pockets, with scalloped button flaps. The flaps are rayon lined with button snaps. There are 2 large button flap pockets at the sides, also lined. On the shoulders are epaulettes with gilt buttons, and down the front are three large gilt buttons and one plastic. On each cuff is a chocolate greenish - chocolate bevo woven single stripe that denotes this tunic as an officer's tunic. (The bevo color varies from tunic to tunic.) The cuffs are straight with no buttons or adjustments.The tunic has a partial liner with one interior pocket, the sign of a high end tailoring job. The interior pocket has the Regulation Label sewn to the exterior. The right front pocket has the detailed Quartermaster Tag. The armpits are reinforced and there are loops for a belt. Please note the belt is not included.The tunic, as a size 38 Regular, is an average size for the times based on my experience. I obtained the following measurements, 20 inches through the chest, 16 inches through the waist and 24 inches for the sleeves. Across the shoulders I got 18 inches. These were obtained laying the tunic flat using a yard stick.All insignia have been removed. There are ghosts on the shoulder where a patch was removed. There are ghosts on the lapel where collar insignia has been removed. I have found buyers prefer to craft their own look.There is no staining, soiling, fraying, fading or signs of wear. Incredibly there are no moth nips that I can discern. The Tunic is pressed and striking in person. It has had a lot of TLC.The Tunic is in an average 1940s size and, as such, probably will not fit many adults today. Although it may fit some of you out there I can not guarantee it will fit you personally. Therefore I ask that you first consider purchasing the Tunic for the nicely preserved historical artifact that it represents. It is an representative example of a privately purchased, custom tailored, named, high quality Chocolate Elastique WWII AAF Pilot or Officer's Tunic.The AAF Officer's Tunic would look terrific for a display, and is just what you need to complete your WWII AAF or GI Officer's Grouping.
