Very nice Australian made survival amchete. Reference: Flook pg 163-164; Cole III pg 142; Brett pg 51 These were made for the US forces by Australia to be issued to the aircrews in the Pacific as part of bailout kits. Many had markings of the maker (East Brothers) and U.S.A.A.F or of origin (Sydney). This particular example appears to have all the markings removed. This was commonly done to reveal as little information as possible in the event of capture. This example is 12 ¾” OAL with a bright 8 3/8” blade and aluminum handle and comes with the issue leather sheath. The blade has been ground to remove all markings and is nicely sharpened. Both e the bottom edge and the front edge have a nice edge with no dings or chips. Blade is strong with no flex and has the characteristic extended nipple at the front bottom. Handle is solid aluminum with no wiggle or looseness and has also been ground. The handle is pinned to the blade tang, which extends about ½ way up the handle, with 2 brass pins. Sheath is in very nice condition. Leather is pliable and complete. All straps are intact and work. Snap works fine. Foreign bidders welcome, but shipping cost shown is only to USA. Foreign bidders should contact me for estimated shipping costs prior to bidding. I will insure this knife at my cost. Must be over 18 to bid.
