Original WWII British ARMY BRIGADIER Officer's Named PARADE VISOR Hat. Dark blue wool cap with a red band and a Crowned Lion over a Crown bullion badge on front, which was specifically used for the rank of Brigadier and Colonel. Gorgeous toned gold bullion oak leaf wreath on the black leather visor. Queen Elizabeth II side buttons are marked "EIIR" with the Crown. Black leather chinstrap. Beautiful bullion, velvet and silk thread Crown badge with a Crowned Lion on top, is approx. 2 1/4" x 1 1/2". Oilcloth lining has the maker's label - "Conway Williams, 49. Brook St., Mayfair, London W.1., and Camberley". "Real Roan Leather" sweatband is named to "Mitford". APPROX. SIZE 7. We believe this visor hat to be of late WWII vintage, and the EIIR side buttons were probably added later to replace their original George VI side buttons, when Queen Elizabeth II was crowned in 1952. T is additional thread on the inside to suggest they were added. Black leather visor has some spidering and the gold bullion oak leaf has just one small 1" section that needs some thread to attach its ends to the visor. Blue wool cap and red band are in excellent condition, with no mothing, wear, etc. This important, Officer's named cap is in superb condition. More research should be done on Brigadier Mitford.
