ORIGINAL WW2 D-DAY C-47 NAVIGATOR PATHFINDER / TROOP CARRIER GROUPING. Bought from local WWII veterans estate. Veteran served as a navigator aboard C-47 during airborne drops on D-Day, also later operations including dropping supplies to Bastogne. Served with the 302nd Troop Carrier squadron and the 4th troop carrier pathfinder squadron, 314th Troop Carrier Group and 441st TC Group, IX troop carrier command. Grouping consists of his theater made Troop Carrier Airborne patch - embroidered on wool; mint uncut theater made pathfinder patch - embroidered on wool. His 3" Navigator wings - clutchback / sterling marked; captain bar; lapel wing and prop - AE co; air medal ribbon; pair of T-43 dog tag on chain; leather name tag from flight jacket (was sewn on). Five original pics of this veteran (some captioned), four in front of C-47s wearing uniform, A-2, parka etc. Also a military file from this veteran full of original paperwork - general orders for his 2nd air medal for the invasion of Southern France and his fourth for the drops on Bastogne which reads in part: "As combat crew members of troop carrier planes, these individuals exhibited superb airmanship in the continuous delivery of essential supplies to allied armies advancing against the enemy and in the air evacuation of the wounded.
