WWII Elgin B W Raymond US Army Air Corps Master Navigation Watch, manufactured in 1941. 21 jewels, adjusted for 5 positions and temperature compensated, 24 hour dial marked GCT (Greenwich Central Time). Movement and case have all the proper markings. It keeps excellent (or better) time with the rate adjustment at mid-scale. Movement is clearly marked U S Army A. C. Case back has all the proper marks but they are very faint. However, the case back does not appear to be severly worn and the lettering is all even. T is one small area of brassing over the last digit of the Ordnance No. The Air Corps acceptance or inspector's mark is deep and clear (AC over 263 in a triangle). The case back reads U. S Army A.C./ Watch, Navigation/Master/Type A-18, Ser. No. 41-1928/Ord. No. 42-805-8 (? on this last digit)/Spec. No. 94-27968/Mfgrs Part No. 1767/Elgin. On the inside of the case back is stamped Cased And Timed By Elgin National Watch Co./Illinois Watch Case Co,/Elgin Nickel/0519054. T is one watchmaker's service ccode etched on the inside of the back case cover. The movement is clean and looks wonderful. The is one small area of an old rust stain on the crown wheel. That is the only blemish. The plating on the winding crown is mostly worn away. The case back has very minor brassing. The dial is perfect, as are the hands. I do not know if the crystal is original. The chain is not GI. The serial number is low and this would have been made in early 1941. I believe this came from a B-24 Navigator who served in CBI in the 5TH Air Force. I have two pictures, two 5TH Air Force patches, part of the issue watch "thong" (unused) and a white scarf, unused, with the Mfgr's Part Number still clearly visible. The pictures are 3 1/2 X 2 1/2 and 3X2 inches. One has the censor's "Passed By" stamp and censor's initials. These are offered separately. These last items came with the watch. I have reason to believe they belong with the watch, but t is no proof. This is a very nice watch for the Elgin or WWII collector. I accept paypal or bank or personal checks. This will be mailed USPS priority, insurance required. I don't know the exact cost until I take the packaged item to the PO with the buyer's zip. I will then send an invoice for the exact amount. I do not make anything on the buyer's shipping. I am usually prompt with this. The eBay generated shipping cost is never correct.
