WWII US Army/USMC M1917 Bayonet marked Remington w/M1917 Marked Plastic Scabbard - Excellent Condition - Re-issued for the Winchester Model 97 or 12 Trench Guns Up for auction is a WWII re-issued US Army/USMC M1917 Bayonet with Plastic Scabbard. The bayonet is is Excellent Condition. It does NOT appear to have been excessively sharpened. It is marked US with a British Broad Arrows that have been crossed out. On the other side it is marked 1913 over a circluar Remington. This was a WWI-era lend-lease item returned to US service during WWII for use with the Trench Shotguns. The plastic Scabbard is a RARE Variation that was made specifically for this bayonet during WWII. This WWI era bayonet was re-issued during WWII for use with the variety of trench shotguns in use at the time (Winchester Model 1897 and Model 12, Stevens Model 720A, Remington Model 11, etc). The WWI era leather scabbard was not considered durable enough and since it would not fit into the new M3 plastic scabbard, a modified version of the M3 scabbard then being used for the M1905 and M1942 Bayonets was produced. This scabbard was marked US-M1917, B.M.Co. This is a RARE Example of a WWI Remington M1917 Bayonet with a US-M1917 Plastic Scabbard.
