You are bidding on an original WWII German M42 ground dug helmet. I originally bought this from a man in Greece, who had dug this helmet up in Russia when he lived there. The area of Russia is unknown, but this is definitely a helmet that was buried for a while. I can't guarantee a helmet that was dug up near a major battlefield. Russia is a huge country, so there were a lot of places for helmets to be lost and buried. The helmet is a size 66, and shows areas of original grey paint. There are absolutely no holes in this helmet, which makes it one of the nicer ground dug helmets I have seen in a long time. A lot of people sell these things that have entire sides missing for close to a hundred dollars, which is criminal. The helmet also includes its original liner band, complete with rivets to keep it in place. As a militaria collector, this was my first German helmet, but is being sold to make room for a new one. This would make a great first helmet for any budding collector, or even a nice addition to an advanced collector who enjoys the rustier items. You won't be disappointed with this helmet.
