This is an authentic original WWII German M31 combat helmet liner. It is guaranteed wartime original in all ways. Outer suspension band stamp marked: 66 n. A over 58. A coded maker's mark/date reads: RBNr above, 0/0251/0111 below, encircling 1944. This stamping occurs just behind the right side D-ring on zinc alloy outer suspension band. It is the coded version of the manufacturer, necessary to confuse allied bombing planners. This liner leather is very stiff, but exceptional in condition, showing little use & almost no wear, but for some stains around the rim. Ink stamps appear as a 58 outside, & a 59N inside The original tie string is absent. The spring leaves of the inner band are all present, unbroken & in very good shape, and show the zinc galvanizing to prevent rust, typical of mid-1943 & later liner production. This liner would still be very sturdy for use, but probably better if carefully installed in a size 66 M42 helmet shell. This guaranteed to be an entirely authentic original WWII German helmet liner.
